Finse 1222 is a privately owned, seasonal run hotel, located on the northern side of the Hardanger plateau situated on the Oslo-Bergan railway line at an elevation of 1222m.
The winter season runs from January to mid-May, and the summer season from July to October. Finse 1222 opened in 1909, at the same time as the railway line. We are a member of The Historic Hotels and Restaurants and are Eco-lighthouse certified.
The hotel is situated right beside the train station and has no direct road access. The only way to get to Finse is by train (4 hours from Oslo and 3 hours from Bergen). The hotel has 7 full-time staff as well as between 15-40 seasonal workers.
Facts: 41 en suite rooms, restaurant with 150 seating capacity, 3 meeting rooms. 2017: 25 million NOK turnover, 11 800 overnight stays.
Our guests come to Finse for a variety of reason: to cycle Rallarvegen; to go hiking in the mountains; to go ski-sailing and ski-kiting; to participate in our yearly Jazz festival; to train and prepare for expeditions as well as partaking in company meetings, courses, conferences and get-togethers.
The kitchen at Finse 1222: Classical European style. Through the years Finse 1222 has aimed specifically at surprising its guests with extra special food, something which we have been very successful in doing. We put an emphasis on local and fresh produce.
All our food is made from scratch and we never use prefabricated produce. Food deliveries are once a week with the freight train from Bergen.
We are looking for a cook in the period of 27 December 2018, at the latest on 15 January 2019 Finse 1222 is looking for an enthusiastic and certified Cook who can be part of our kitchen team. We would like a friendly person who finds joy in transforming excellent, fresh ingredients into original and exciting food. At the same time, you can see this as the possibility of living and enjoying life in the Norwegian mountains.
Work duties: Making staff dinner Making Lunch – Breakfast mise en place – Closing the kitchen (cleaning, defrosting, check info for next day) – Deliveries together with the rest of the staff
